The Financial Inclusion Centre’s aims are to promote greater financial inclusion and resilience so that consumers’ core financial needs are met. In terms of financial needs, the priorities are developing solutions to:
- Protect people in immediate financial difficulty.
- Help people repair their finances in the short term and build savings and financial resilience in the medium-longer term.
- Enable access to fair and affordable products and services with a current focus on advice, credit, and basic insurance.
The Financial Inclusion Centre focuses on ‘front line’, practical solutions. This work includes:
- Undertaking impact and evaluation research on financial inclusion and resilience projects, initiatives, and interventions.
- Supporting capacity building, strategy development and implementation with organisations working in the field.
- Working in partnership with trusted intermediaries such as community lenders, social housing providers, local authorities, other non-profit organisations, and progressive financial services firms to develop and implement solutions.
The Financial Inclusion Centre remains the name of the non-profit and the main operating entity for the organisation.
The inclusion work is led by Co-Director Gareth Evans gareth.evans@inclusioncentre.org.uk while Co-Director Mick McAteer mick.mcateer@inclusioncentre.org.uk leads on the policy work, although the team will continue to collaborate and work across the two different main areas.
