Gordon Bell – an appreciation

At the Financial Inclusion Centre, we were very saddened to learn of the untimely death of Gordon Bell, one of our directors.

Gordon had a very successful career with GE before being recruited by Malcolm Hurlston to work for the UK’s leading debt advice charity Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS), now known as StepChange. Gordon grew StepChange to be the leading debt advice charity in the UK – by the time he left the charity employed over 1,000 staff dedicated to help consumers who need free, effective debt advice.

On his retirement from CCCS Gordon became a director of the Financial Inclusion Centre, bringing his wealth of experience and knowledge to our work on debt and financial exclusion. He will be missed. Our condolences go to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Malcolm Hurlston CBE, Chairman of the Financial Inclusion Centre said: ‘Gordon brought unrivalled comradeship to our work, which is irreplaceable.’
